Shame keeps us from many things.
It keeps us from accepting help.
It keeps us from accepting compliments.
It keeps us from fully being who we really are.
The antidote to shame?
Learning to say “yes” when someone offers to help.
Learning to just say “thank you” when someone gives you a compliment.
Even learning to ask for help when you could do it on your own and don’t feel like it.
Shame is about feeling that we don’t deserve it.
Shame is about feeling less than everyone else.
The truth is, we all feel shame to one degree or another.
We all feel that we’re never enough.
That we don’t quite measure up.
That we’re not as good as someone else.
That we’re the outsider.
The funny thing is, we all feel like we’re the outsider.
So who is on the inside?
If we look for it, there is always something we can feel shameful about.
Even though those feelings are there, we can still move forward.
We can still accept.
We can take action to feel different.
You are an amazing human being!
Do you accept that?
