Our lives are filled with all sorts of changes.
Both internal and external changes are abundant.
People come into our lives, and people leave.
Our thoughts, habits, dreams, intentions, and desires change too.
We evolve and we grow over time.
And as the years come and go we can find ourselves in very different circumstances.
Yet in the midst of the small, daily changes we don’t even notice them.
Yet when we take the time to look back and reflect upon the past year or the past decade, that is when we really see the changes.
It can take perspective to see how things are different.
It can take some distance to notice how much less hair we have or how much weigh we have added.
It can take us moment to sit back and take a breath to see how our work or business has grown.
To recognize the changes we must take that breath and give ourselves a moment.
A moment to reflect.
A moment to remember.
A moment to recall how things used to be compared to how they are now.
Sometimes we are happy with the changes.
Sometimes not.
Either way we cannot stop the forces of change in our lives.
Indeed, if we embrace them and allow them to be without judgment, we can have a different experience.
We can stop looking at aging as a bad thing.
Or stop looking at transitions as losses.
Or perhaps we can remember another time fondly without wishing it was still like that now.
We are agents of change.
It is up to us to decide what that change looks like.
What that change means.
How that change can serve us.
So let’s honor the passage of time by embracing the changes that support us, and modifying those things that do not.
