We all see life as we want it to be.
Sometimes, that how it is.
Many times, it is not.
Our vision of what is going on is often clouded by our desires.
This is what causes us to not see the reality of life.
Perhaps we want things to work out so badly that we ignore the warning signs in a relationship.
Maybe we are so invested in our business we don’t see the change in the market.
Sometimes we ignore the warning signs in our health not wanting to believe that we could be sick.
This difference between our perception and our reality is an important one to recognize.
How do we become more in alignment with reality?
It is about understanding ourselves and our desires.
It is about knowing ourselves well enough to see our own biases.
It is about being honest enough with ourselves that we want something so badly we could not be seeing clearly.
This is not easy to do.
It takes real courage to see life as it really is.
The level of honesty about our own hopes, dreams, and desires must be high.
It is easy to kid ourselves.
It is easy to believe we really are seeing things accurately.
It takes work to question ourselves and be willing to be open to receiving the answer we don’t want.
No one wants to hear that things are not as we desire.
No one intentionally wants to know that things are worse than we think.
Yet when we allow ourselves to be so brutally honest with ourselves, then we are empowered to do something about it.
Then we can take the appropriate action.
Then we can be prepared for what is to come, even if it is unpleasant.
It is better to see life as it really is than to be surprised by what was in front of us the entire time.
