Saying goodbye is never easy.
When someone close to us has transitioned and moved on.
We feel a hole in our hearts.
And there is a space there that they used to fill.
Of course, a person is more than just a body.
More than just a voice or a laugh.
They are a unique presence in our lives.
As we are for them.
And while their exact presence can never be replaced, we do move on to meet other people.
To connect with other presences.
To find a new smile or a new friend to connect with.
We may still long for making memories with our dearly departed.
Yet we have new memories to make with others.
We have more of life to live.
To keep their memory alive we find ways to honor them.
To celebrate them.
To still hold them close to our hearts.
We tell their stories.
We laugh at the good times we had together.
We cry at the sad times we shared.
And we honor the cycle of life.
For one day it will us who are the departed.
And others will be mourning our loss.
And they will tell our stories.
And laugh and cry at the moments we shared.
And life will still move on.
So let us learn celebrate more, and mourn less while we live.
To be present to life in all it’s glory while we can.
Until it is our time to take another spin of the wheel.
And delve into the biggest mystery of life.
To discover what lies beyond.
